MAIN DUTIES – Teaching Assistant:

Act as a Teaching Assistant in English lessons working closely with the English and Curriculum Coordinators and Teachers to ensure learners achieve their English and targets

Work with the teacher in lesson planning, evaluating and adjusting lessons / work plans as appropriate and support the completion of assessment points, self-reviews and learning targets

Use a range of learning aids and strategies, including assistive technologies to support learners with special educational needs e.g. assist students with the organisation and completion of their college work, note-taking, research

Play an active role in class to support the learners’ progress and compile record the evidence of their progression in English and/or
Support Teachers and ALS staff to deliver the curriculum to students with learning difficulties, language needs and/or disabilities in class

Assist in the identification of early signs of disengagement and contribute to specific interventions to encourage the re-engagement of the learners

MAIN DUTIES – Cover Assistant:

Provide immediate cover when the need arises in priority in English and curriculum areas
Supervise of whole classes during the absence of the class teacher under the guidance of Curriculum Coordinators and senior staff, including the implementation of work programmes, managing behaviour and assisting in relevant activities

Deliver the lesson that has been set by the Teachers and record learners’ progress
Collect completed work after the lesson and pass the learners’ work to the Curriculum Manager
Ensure attendance registers are marked promptly within the first 5 minutes of the lesson
Monitor and evaluate students’ responses to learning activities through observation and planned recording of achievement against predetermined learning objectives
