1. Support teaching staff in training and delivery of the curriculum to students with learning difficulties, language needs and/or disabilities.
2. Assist individual learners, small groups or all classes in a wide range of individual activities and learning experiences under the direction of teaching staff, Subject facilitator Coaches and managers.
3. Use a range of learning aids and strategies, including assistive technologies to support learners with needs e.g. assist students with the organisation and completion of their college work, note-taking, research.
4. Help Subject Facilitator Coaches and teaching staff in the identification and development of appropriate resources for individual learning.
5. Assist in the identification of early signs of disengagement and contribute to specific interventions to encourage the re-engagement of the learners.
6. Develop positive relationships with learners and assist their progress and achievement.
7. Support learners during examinations and controlled assignments.
8. Carryout individual reviews and set ALS targets.
9. Record all the required information on the college’s ALS systems and carry out any related administrative duties as required.
10. Support the development of wider skills that support learners’ learning.
11. Assist in the initial assessment procedures of learners.
12. When required, assist the arrival and departure of learners in taxis or other forms of transport.
13. Attend Departmental, Team meetings and training sessions.
14. Assist with simple first aid and providing a point of reference for occasional emotional / physical incidents.
15. Accompany learners during work experience, outings or other venues.
