Improvement & Development Advisor – English

Octavo works with schools to support improvement and development.  We have an opening for an Improvement & Development Advisor with English specialism who is keen to work in a flexible and collaborative approach.

We are looking for someone who will be able to:

  • Champion high standards and quality of provision
  • Demonstrate expertise in all aspects of the English curriculum in EYFS, KS1 and 2: reading, writing, phonics and oracy
  • Develop, design and plan effectively within the English curriculum to support the school community focusing on standards, teaching, learning and assessment
  • Provide advice and school-based consultancy for schools and special schools, PRUs and other providers on issues pertaining to the teaching of English and implementation of innovative programmes
  • Provide support in the lead-up to Ofsted inspections; and assist in drawing up post-Ofsted inspection action plans based on identified areas for improvement for the English curriculum, together with identifying the necessary training required
  • Provide briefings for subject leaders, keeping them up to date on national and local issues
  • Participate in moderation and monitoring activities for KS1 and 2 as required
  • Contribute to school improvement initiatives related to English
