EARLY YEARS TEACHING ASSISTANT

Salary: Grade 2, point 3 – 5 (FTE : £28,617 – £29,436 pro rata)
Contract: Full-time, 31.25 hours per week, fixed term, term time only

Thornton Heath Nursery School, is a vibrant and inclusive community nursery dedicated to nurturing every unique child through a broad and ambitious curriculum. We are looking for a passionate Teaching Assistant to support our team in providing outstanding early years education.

Thornton Heath Nursery School provides education for children aged between two and four years old. We are proud to be lead and managed by Pegasus Academy Trust on behalf of the London Borough of Croydon and serve the local community with outstanding early years education. Our school benefits from exciting, spacious learning environments, fantastic resources, and a highly committed, dedicated staff team. Our most recent Ofsted inspection graded us as ‘Good’.

We are seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Early Years Teaching Assistant to join our team on a fixed-term contract (31.25 hours per week, five days a week, term time only) with a negotiable start date. You will play a vital role in supporting children’s learning and development in both indoor and outdoor settings, helping to create a safe, happy, and stimulating environment where every child can thrive.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Level 2 approved qualification for working with young children
  • A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning, wellbeing, and development
  • Ability to effectively support children in both outdoor and indoor learning environments
  • Strong team player who communicates confidently with children, staff, and families
  • Commitment to following and promoting school policies, including safeguarding, health and safety, and data protection
  • Experience working with children across a range of abilities
  • Dedication to making a positive difference in the lives of vulnerable children
  • Commitment to equality of opportunity and inclusion
  • Enthusiastic, reliable, with good communication skills and punctuality
  • Willingness to engage in professional development to enhance skills and knowledge
  • Previous Early Years experience is desirable but not essential
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills
