1-1 Welfare Assistant in an Enhanced Learning Provision

Start date:   1st September

Contract type: 25 hours per week

Salary: NJC Grade 1 Scp 3.

Contract term: Fixed term until child leaves the ELP.

Are you a compassionate and reliable individual looking to make a real difference in a child’s life?

The Bridge is a nurturing, specialised setting supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) within a mainstream primary school. We are seeking a dedicated Welfare Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child with a specific medical need, ensuring their health, wellbeing and access to learning are supported every day.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide personal medical care in line with a detailed healthcare plan (training provided);
  • Monitor and respond to the child’s health and well-being throughout the school day;
  • Support the pupil’s access to learning within a safe, inclusive and structured environment;
  • Work closely with class staff, healthcare professionals and families;
  •  Keep accurate records of medical care and welfare updates;
  •  Be a calm, consistent presence supporting the child’s emotional and physical needs.

 

Candidates should:

  • Have confidence to follow medical protocols (training provided);
  • Be a team player committed to safeguarding and inclusion;
  • Have an understanding of ASD or willingness to learn;
  • Be able to use their initiative.
